ZUFFA purchase Strikeforce; Dana White says “business as usual”

UFC President Dana White exclusively revealed to MMAFighting.com‘s Ariel Helwani this afternoon that ZUFFA purchased the rival promotion Strikeforce. Based in San Jose, California, Strikeforce were considered by many as UFC’s main competitors, thanks to a deal with Showtime and an exceptional production of the events.

White assured Helwani that business will go as usual, also stating the the “UFC-banned” fighters Paul Daley and Josh Barnett will keep their jobs at Strikeforce. As for the “Last Emperor” Fedor Emelianenko, Dana White stated that the Russian’s deal with Strikeforce and Showtime will continue as usual.

In March of 2007, ZUFFA purchased the Japanese PRIDE promotion, in what was without a doubt one of the most important steps in company’s history. The next step came last October, when UFC merged with the WEC, clearly showing how serious are ZUFFA’s ambitions of expanding the Ultimate Fighting Championship brand.
