Another Big Fight Announced For UFC 194
UFC officials announced on Friday morning a welterweight bout between Demian Maia (21-6 MMA, 15-6 UFC) and Gunnar Nelson (14-1-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) for the UFC 194 event.
Maia is coming off a submission victory over surging Neil Magny at UFC 190 and now owns a three-fight winning streak.
Gunnar Nelson (14-1-1) is currently on a one-fight winning streak. In his last six bouts, he’s 5-1. He beat Damarques Johnson in September of 2012 by first-round rear naked choke, Jorge Santiago in February of 2013 by unanimous decision and then a first-round guillotine choke victory over Omari Akhmedov in March of 2014. He then went 1-1, he beat Zak Cummings in July of 2014 by second-round rear-naked choke, but then lost to Rick Story in October of 2014 by split decision. He submitted Brandon Thatch in the first round at UFC 186 by rear-naked choke.
UFC 194 takes place on December 12th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The main event of this event will be UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor for the featherweight championship.
