WSOF 11 Adds Jon Fitch vs. Jake Shields & Melvin Guillard vs. Geisas Cavalcante

World Series of Fighting continues to bulk it’s ranks with former, and possibly future UFC talent. Already having signed Rousimar Palhares, Melvin Guillard and Jon Fitch, it appears that WSOF is the place to go after the big show. Although the recent debacle surrounding ‘Toquinho’ probably won’t do the promotion any favors.

The controversial former UFC welterweight backed out of his upcoming title defense against Jon Fitch at WSOF 11, citing personal reasons. With that in mind, it seems the promotion has worked hard to rebuild the event. News has emerged that WSOF 11 will now feature Melvin Guillard vs. Geisas ‘JZ’ Cavalcante and Jake Shields vs. Jon Fitch.

‘The Young Assassin’ got his marching papers after a disappointing display against Michael Johnson at Fight Night 37, and will look to score his first post-UFC win against a very tough veteran in Cavalcante. ‘JZ’ knocked out UFC cast-off Tyson Griffin at WSOF 4, and has certainly been around the block.

Jon Fitch debuted in spectacularly poor fashion against Josh Burkman; succumbing to an early first round choke at WSOF 3, but bouncing back in late 2013 with a decision win over Marcelo Alfaya. He is pitted against Jake Shields, who got dropped by Zuffa after getting squashed for three rounds by Hector Lombard at UFC 171.
