Was It Worth It? Nate Diaz Earns $16,000 For UFC on FOX 13 Loss

The fighter payout figures are in for December 13, 2014’s UFC on FOX 13 event from the U.S Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and it appears that Nate Diaz’ lengthy holdout prior to his one-sided decision loss to current title challenger Rafael dos Anjos didn’t exactly pay off like he had hoped.

After he had to forfeit 20 percent of his purse to dos Anjos for badly missing weight by more than four-and-a-half pounds, Diaz took home a paltry $16,000 for the lopsided beating from dos Anjos; hardly the massive payday that he had supposedly held out for.

Dos Anjos, who will take on champion Anthony Pettis in the main event of March’s UFC 185, earned $86,000 total for his dominant win.

Former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos earned $260,000 for his hard-fought decision win over Stipe Miocic in the night’s main event. Miocic took home only $30,000 for a narrow and violent loss.

Alistair Overeem returned to the win column with a TKO finish over Stefan Struve, earning $150,000 for the first round victory. The embattled Struve, who spent almost two years on the sidelines recovering from a heart condition, took home $40,000 for his comeback bout.

Rounding out the main card, surging heavyweight Matt Mitrione earned $66,000 for his knockout win over former title contender Gabriel Gonzaga.
