With UFC Future Unclear, Brock Lesnar Remains Subject To USADA Testing

Brock Lesnar UFC 200 Weigh in

After five years away from the Octagon, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made his highly-anticipated return to action in the co-main event of last weekend’s (July 9, 2016) UFC 200 from Las Vegas, Nevada. Lesnar put on an impressive performance, scoring a somewhat dominant decision victory over legendary knockout artist Mark “The Super Samoan” Hunt.

Despite launching himself back into the heavyweight top 10, Lesnar’s future with the UFC is currently unclear. At the UFC 200 post-fight press conference, “The Beast” left the door wide open for an Octagon return, but he’s also still under contract with the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). In fact, he’ll be competing for the professional wrestling organization later this summer at Summerslam.

Along with his WWE contract, however, Lesnar is indeed still under contract with the UFC according to a report from MMAFighting.com. With that being said, “The Beast” remains subject to USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) drug testing per company spokesperson Ryan Madden:

“To my knowledge, Brock Lesnar has not notified USADA of his retirement from the UFC,” Madden said. “Therefore, he remains subject to USADA testing and the UFC anti-doping policy.”

Prior to his bout with Hunt, Lesnar drew some criticism regarding drug testing, as he was granted an exception by the UFC. Typically when a fighter is making a return, he or she is subject to four months of drug testing before he or she can compete. Lesnar, however, announced his return just weeks before UFC 200 and was excused from this rule.

Despite the criticism, however, “The Beast” has never failed a drug test. His physique is simply unlike that of many others which has caused the masses to speculate on this matter. In the end, however, it appears as if Lesnar competing in the UFC again could be very possible.

If he indeed decides to stick around, who would you like to see the former champion face off with next?
