MMA fighter Moein Ahmadi paid tribute to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s near assassination during his walkout to the cage.

Ahmadi and Theodor Berggren squared off in a welterweight matchup at FCR 21 on Saturday. Ahmadi entered the fight as a betting underdog despite back-to-back wins entering the event.

MMA fighters like Ahmadi and Berggren are known to express their creative sides during their pre-fight walkouts. Ahmadi opted to recreate the attempted assassination of Trump with a full crew who played the role of secret service agents.

Ahmadi’s nod to Trump didn’t result in a victory, as he lost by first-round TKO against Berggren.

Thomas Matthew Crooks injured seven, including Trump, during the assassination attempt in July in Butler, Pennsylvania. The incident remains under investigation by the U.S. federal government.

Trump is an avid MMA and UFC fan, having attended numerous high-profile events in recent years. He was most recently cage side at UFC 302 in Newark for the Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier headliner.

Trump’s longtime friendship with UFC CEO Dana White is well documented. In the early 2000s, when the UFC was struggling to gain traction, Trump hosted numerous fight cards at his resorts.

As for Ahmadi, he had one of the most unique MMA walkouts of 2024, but it didn’t pay off with a win. He fell to 6-6-0 in his professional MMA career.
