Video: Conor McGregor Sparring Footage From 2015 Surfaces

Conor McGregor sparring footage from 2015 has surfaced online thanks to McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh. He posted the old sparring footage from the vaults on Thursday.

The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion saw the footage was posted and noted that this footage was after he damaged his ACL as it was dangling by a thread. Despite this, his movement was still pretty slick.

This was a training camp to prepare McGregor to fight then-UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo in July 2015 in the headliner of the UFC 189 pay-per-view event. However, Aldo pulled out with a rib fracture that saw Chad Mendes replace him. McGregor would proceed to TKO Mendes in the second round to win the imterim featherweight title at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“A spar in the lead up to the Mendes fight. Just weeks after ACL tear. Note the occasional buckle in the leg + zero kicks. The spar before this you tried to pull me from the fight. Good times!Always good, sharp work with @FransMlambo! Looking forward to his next outing!”
