For all the thrills and spills that modern mixed martial arts offers fans, there has been a certain downside to the sport that is becoming a constant. We’re talking about injuries, more specifically to high profile main event fighters and champions. Jose Aldo was the latest casualty claimed by the injury bug, for the fifth time at that, and just about every other champion in recent years, including Anderson Silva, Daniel Cormier, Cain Velasquez, Jon Jones etc etc., has succumbed to training knocks at one point or another.

When big fights are announced they are often met with both excitement and trepidation. Title fights are just too easily scratched by fighters pulling out due to injuries, and often it’s over training or going too hard that can be blamed for these mishaps. Over in Phoenix, Arizona, ‘Exos’, a new modern gym designed for MMA fighters has been opened. It centres around nutrition, training and recovery, and three of the sports most well known faces, and former WWE star CM Punk, showed up to trial the Exos Center on FOX.
