Vadim Finkelstein says the fight against Lesnar is no longer possible; Fedor will fight “in between” before facing Werdum

M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelstein revealed in an exclusive interview for LowKick.com Community, that “The Last Emperor” Fedor Emelianenko will square off against the yet unnamed opponent, befor he gets a rematch against Fabricio Werdum. Fedor Emelianenko was in Atlantic City, NJ this weekend for the M-1 Selection show, revealing to the popular MMA video blogger Bloodstain Lane that he is looking to sign a new 4 or 6-fight deal with Strikeforce.

Also, to the disappointment of Mixed Martial Arts fans around the World, Vadim Finkelstein declared that the fight against reigning UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar “is no longer possible”. This may be a result of Dana White‘s negative comments after Fedor’s defeat against Werdum, when the UFC President stated numerous times that his promotion is no longer interested in “overrated” Fedor.

Here’s what Vadim Finkelstein had to say about Dana White, M-1 Fighter reality Show and Fedor’s next fight:

How can you describe the current relationship with the UFC President Dana White, and what’s the main obstacle that prevents to sign a deal with the UFC?
First of all, we never had any sort of relationship with Dana White, and secondly, he said that he was no longer interested in Fedor – we should have expected this. We want to arrange a fight with Brock Lesnar, but I think it’s no longer possible.

What is the main difference between M-1 Fighter reality show and the UFC’s TUF?
I have not seen the Ultimate Fighter even once. So I cannot say how they differ. But I know exactly what we are trying to achieve by launching the M-1 Fighters: We want our guys to get recognized. Reality show reveals them as individuals. They are the same as all the guys, but they have their own purpose. In the project, we see them as interesting, good and spiritual people. They are simple and good guys. And of course we want this show to improve the popularity of MMA in Russia.

Scott Coker said that he thought the M-1 “will have no choice” regarding who will be Fedor’s next opponent. There was a talk about the fights against Big Foot Silva, Sergei Kharitonov and of course Alistair Overeem. What can you say about these plans, and will you insist on an immediate rematch between Fedor and Werdum?

I heard that Fabricio Werdum postponed his surgery, and will not be able to fight Fedor in the near future. We are currently working on an intermediate fight for Fedor Emelianenko. We’ll know soon who will be his next opponent. But I still think that the rematch against Fabricio Werdum is what MMA fans would like to see.
