Uriah Hall Will Now Face Josh Samman At UFC on FS1: Boston
TUF 11 competitor Nick Ring has been forced out of his upcoming bout against TUF 17 contestant Uriah Hall. While the reasons for his withdrwal are yet to be revealed, what is known is Ring’s replacement. TUF 17’s Josh Samman will step up to the plate, and face Uriah Hall at UFC on Fox Sports 1 in Boston.
Hall was the betting favorite in the lead up to his TUF 17 finals bout against Kelvin Gastelum, but was beaten by split decision in a disappointing climax. He will have a chance to bounce back in August against Samman, who is no pushover.
Samman was beaten by Kelvin Gastelum during the semi finals of TUF 17, but won his bout against Kevin Casey in the finale by TKO. Samman is 10-2 with nine finishes, and Uriah Hall will arguably be the biggest fight of his career to date. While Hall holds notable losses against Costa Phillipou and Chris Weidman, he is still being looked upon as a hot prospect.
Samman has mainly fought in regional promotions, barring his Bellator 84 loss to Dan Cramer,. Hall became more widely known after his devastating spinning kick KO against Adam Cella, and when he was upset by Gastelum many fans put the sub par performance down to inexperience and nerves. My opinion is that there was so much pressure on U-Hall in the lead up to the finals, and he simply buckled under the pressure.
It sometimes seems that the bigger the hype train, the more likely it is to get derailed. Here is how the UFC on FS1: Boston fight card looks at the moment, given that Hall vs. Samman hasn’t oficially been announced yet:
