UFC on Fox 8 Prelims Recap

UFC on Fox 8 got off to a pretty good start tonight. The undercad fighters gave a good account of themselves in Seattle, putting on some real exciting fights.

First off in the facebook prelims we saw John Albert take on Yaotzin Meza. The two 135ers put on a grappling clinic in the opening round, exchanging positions and submission attempts. Early in the second round Albert caught Meza in a tight triangle, but seemed to gas out and just give up. Meza escaped the choke, and took Albert’s back with ease. Sinking in the choke and tapping Albert after two minutes in round two.

Next was Aaron Riley vs. Justin Salas, and after three hard fought rounds Salas took a split decision win.

On to the FX section of the card, and we had Julie Kedzie vs. Germaine De Randamie. The two fiery WMMArtists put on a less than stellar performance in the first two rounds, but opened up with strikes in the third. GDR walked away with the SD win.

Ed Herman battled Trevor Smith next, and both guys put on a good show of striking. Each man had the other rocked in the opening stanza, but it was Herman who walked away the victor after three rounds.

Mac Danzig and Melvin Guillard continued the action on the prelims, with Guillard fighting to prove his worth in the Lightweight division. Guillard displayed the talent which once had him pegged as championship material, as he picked apart Danzig on the feet. A huge left hand followed by hammerfists on the ground saw Guillard walk away the victor by TKO in round two.

Another Lightweight battle as Danny Castillo fought Tim Means in the penultimate Prelim fight. An arguably questionable decision win for Castillo was the result, after Castillo was able to score multiple takedowns as oppsed to Means hurting him on the feet. Crazy MMA scoring galore on show there.

Lastly was Jorge Masvidal vs. Michael Chiesa and these guys put on a real war. After both men were rocked in the first, Masvidal put on a striking clinic in the second. Tagging Chiesa repeatedly, before scoring some nasty G n P en route to a D’arce choke submission win.
