UFC on FOX 10 Post-Fight Bonuses: Alex Caceres Banks Big Bucks
UFC on FOX 10 came at us live from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, and while the card didn’t exactly blow the roof off the place, it did provide a solid night of actions for the frozen Midwest MMA fans.
The event was headlined by a five round main event between former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson and Josh Thomson, where “Smooth” edged “Punk” with a split decision victory.
Tonight’s card generated an attendance of 10,985 for an announced gate of $863,655, announced by UFC officials at tonight’s post-fight press conference.
As far as the bonuses go, Alex Caceres cashed in huge, winning both “Submission of the Night” and “Fight of the Night” for his preliminary card bout against previously undefeated Sergio Pettis. Pettis seemed to have the striking advantage throughout the first two rounds despite Caceres landing a huge left hand, but “Bruce Leeroy” came back to lock on a tight rear naked choke that forced the younger Pettis brother to tap with only twenty seconds left in the fight.
It’ll go down as a valuable learning experience for Pettis, who at only 20-years-old, has a very bright future ahead of him in the UFC. He took home $50,000 as a nice consolation prize.
Donald Cerrone took home “Knockout of the Night” for his brutal first round headkick over Adriano Martins. The kick actually nailed Martins directly in the neck, instantly putting his lights out and locking up Cerrone’s eighth UFC bonus.
