UFC Fight Night 54 Press Conference With Rory MacDonald, Tarec Saffiedine & TJ Grant

UFC Fight Night 54 will go down in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada this October, and is headlined by top 10 welterweights Rory MacDonald and Tarec Saffiedine. Absent lightweight TJ Grant has expressed his interest in returning to action in front of his home crowd at Fight Night 54, but as of yet the confirmed bouts include Raphael Assuncao vs Bryan Caraway, Paige Vanzant vs Kailin Curran and Nordine Taleb vs Li Jingliang.

The Canadian MacDonald will look to improve on his UFC 174 win over Tyron Woodley, as he faces the extremely durable former Strikeforce champion. Saffiedine has been quite inactive since joining the UFC back in early 2013, having only fought once due to injuries. Facing a rejuvenated, and refocused ‘Ares’ on homesoil will be a tall order for any welterweight, and MacDonald is without doubt the highest calibre fighter that ‘Sponge’ has ever faced.

Bantamweight contender Raphael Assuncao is choosing to stay active as TJ Dillashaw grants Renan Barao a rematch for the title at UFC 177, and does so against submission specialist and significant other of Miesha Tate, Bryan Caraway. The tickets for the event go on sale today, and the headliners ‘Ares’ and ‘Sponge’ will be among those present at the Fight Night 54 press conference today.
