UFC 172 Prelims Results: Best Undercard Ever?

UFC 172 is underway in Baltimore, and the preliminary card started off with a bang. Chris Beal went up against Pat Williams in a bantamweight fight to open the card, and ‘Real Deal’ lived up to his name. Beal landed a huge flying knee in the second round, and put the lights out on Williams in a superb debut.

Alpha Male’s own Danny Castillo went up against ‘Spaniard’ Charlie Brenneman, and Castillo came back after losing round one and knocked out Brenneman with a huge right hand. Two great knockouts and I’m 2-for-2 on the picks so far. Next up were the women’s bantamweights.

Jessyman Duke threw down in a scrappy three round affair Bethe Correia, and it was the unbeaten Correia that took home a hard earned decision win. Takanori Gomi and Isaac Vallie-Flagg had unfinished business at lightweight, and this fight was an absolute war. ‘The Fireball Kid’ and Flagg put on an epic slugfest tonight.

Vallie-Flagg was battered and bleeding by the end of the fight, and appeared to have broken his eye socket. Gomi takes the decision. Lastly was Jo Benavidez vs. Tim Elliott at flyweight, and this was a crazy fight! Benavidez was getting taken down at will, managed to hit the switch and it was all over from there.

JB wrapped up a tight guillotine choke with both Elliott’s arms trapped. Elliott ended up tapping with his feet, and the fight was all over. What a great night of fights so far!
