UFC featherweight star Jack Shore confirms shock retirement: 'He has decided to retire on his own terms'

UFC featherweight contender, Jack Shore has confirmed his retirement from mixed martial arts competition this morning on social media — with his head coach and father, Richard Shore revealing the Welsh fighter chose to call time on his combat sports career on his “own terms”.

Shore, who most recently featured at UFC Fight Night Edmonton back in November, suffered a second round arm-triangle submission loss to Youssef Zalal.

Prior to that, Abertillery native, Shore had dropped a prior doctor’s stoppage TKO loss to Brazilian contender, Joanderson Brito at UFC 301 back in May.

And on social media this morning, Shore’s father and coach, Richard confirmed his son had decided to retire from professional mixed martial arts competition with immediate effect.

“It’s been a crazy journey, but my son has decided to retire on his own terms,” Richard Shore posted of his son, Jack Shore on his official X account. “I could not be prouder of him as a man and an athlete. He will join me full time with coaching the next generation of talent. Enjoy @jackshoremma.”

A former undisputed bantamweight champion during his tenure with Cage Warriors, Shore entered the Octagon in the midst of an impressive 11-fight winning spree.

Tipped to potentially challenge for gold in the promotion, Shore would rack up consecutive victories over Nohelin Hernandez, Aaron Philips, Hunter Azure, Liudvik Sholinian, and Timur Valiev, before a submission loss to veteran challenger, Ricky Simon.

In his most recent professional win, Shore stopped Finish contender, Makwan Amirkhani at UFC 286 in March of last year.
