UFC Rankings Update: Jon Jones Passes Khabib On P4P List

Alexander Gustafsson

The UFC rankings have been updated in the aftermath of last weekend’s (Sat., December 29, 2018) UFC 232 from The Forum in Inglewood, California. Jon Jones regained his light heavyweight title by stopping Alexander Gustafsson in the third round of the main event. You may or may not be surprised to see Jones passes Khabib on the pound-for-pound list of the latest UFC rankings update.

In the latest update from UFC.com, Jones stormed back onto the pound-for-pound list at No. 2, below only his arch-rival and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. The move sent lightweight champion Khabib down one spot to No. 3 as a result. Also at pound-for-pound, newly-crowned women’s double-champ Amanda Nunes stormed up six spots to No. 8 for her shocking knockout of Cris Cyborg in the UFC 232 co-main event. Cyborg fell four spots to No. 15.

In other significant movement, rising featherweight star Alexander Volkanovski rose six spots into a tie four the No. 4 spot with Renato Moicano. ‘The Great’ knocked out Chad Mendes in UFC 232’s ‘Fight of the Night.’ Mendes fell two spots to a tie for No. 8 because of the loss.
