UFC Primetime presents UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II Countdown Show

In advance of their highly anticipated rematch the UFC has made Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva (31-4 MMA, 14-0 UFC) and contender Chael Sonnen (27-11-1 MMA, 6-4 UFC) the focus of a special edition of “UFC Primetime.”

Silva, for all his accomplishments and being a world champion comes across as still being humble. Like other celebrities, he cannot go out in public without being mobbed by his fans. In an opening interview he states how he grew up: “watching sports heroes like Muhhamed Ali and Michael Jordan and listening to music from  Michael Jackson and James Brown and now I am being compared to them. It’s just awesome.”

Sonnen on the other hand continues to trash-talk, calling Silva a “cowardly charlatan” among other things: “I don’t like this guy, that’s not a secret. I want to beat him up and I’m gonna beat him up, again. He was never the best. There wasn’t a day of his fake reign where I wasn’t here saying I can beat that guy and I smashed him.”

For all his bluster, Sonnen legitimately won every round of their last bout and had the fight gone to the judges he would have achieved perhaps the greatest upset in UFC history if not all MMA history.

Silva seems unimpressed and fires back at Sonnen: “He’s going to step out losing again this time. He’s going to have to see a plastic surgeon after the fight. I’m going to beat him the way his parents should have beat him to teach him some manners.”
