UFC Pay-Per-View Price Increase Is Now Permanent
The UFC pay-per-view price increase for UFC 182, 183 & 184 has become a permanent fixture. The promotion released a statement today confirming that from now on you’ll pay $49.99 for a SD (standard definition) PPV show and $59.99 for a HD (high definition) version of a PPV show. The UFC had previously promised that the price hike would only cover the first three numbered shows of 2015.

“In an effort to provide UFC fans with the best possible matchups and highest quality programming, we have maintained the same suggested retail price for our U.S. pay-per-view events since February 2008 (UFC 81), with one exception – UFC 168 in 2013. As with most industries, our costs have gone up significantly over this period and we have determined it is necessary to institute a minimal cost increase beginning in 2015. The previous cost to buy a UFC pay-per-view was $44.99 for the standard-definition broadcast and $54.99 for the high-definition version. Now, the SD price is $49.99, and $59.99 for HD.”
So covering costs is the reason for the UFC pay-per-view price hike, seems fair enough, right? In a move that will no doubt anger many fans, the promotion continues to move the slider further up the scale. If you’ll remember, the UFC did this once before, back in 2013 for UFC 168, promising that it was a one time deal.
Then again at the beginning of this year they said it would only be a three time price hike, and now it’s confirmed that the price of a UFC PPV will remain at 50/60 dollars and that’s also subject to provider charges.
