UFC on Fox 4 : Medical Suspensions and Fighter Salaries
Fighter salaries for UFC on FOX 4 were finally released by the California State Athletic Commission today. As well as a list of medical suspensions including 5 serious ones; three of those went to main card fighters Mike Swick, Jamie Varner, and DaMarques Johnson.
Saturday night’s main card aired live on FOX, while FUEL TV aired a six-fight preliminary-card special from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. In the main event, Shogun Rua defeated Brandon Vera with a fourth-round TKO. In the co-main event Lyoto Machida earned a title shot for his second-round knockout of Ryan Bader.
The following figures are based on the fighter salary information that the UFC is required by law to submit to the California State Athletic Commission.
Mixed martial arts fighters do not have collective bargaining or a union, but the fighters’ salaries are still public record. Any undisclosed bonuses that a promoter pays its fighters, but does not disclose to the athletic commissions (specifically fight of the night bonuses, etc.), are not included in the figures below.
