UFC on ESPN+ 3 Preliminary Card Results: Dwight Grant TKO’s Carlo Pedersoli
UFC on ESPN+ 3 preliminary card results are underway as the Las Vegas-based promotion holds this latest event on television for fight fans around the world to watch the show.
It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display today (Saturday, February 23, 2019) will come from in the form of UFC on ESPN+ 3. Headlining the card are Jan Błachowicz and Thiago Santos, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.
Carlo Pedersoli Jr. vs. Dwight Grant is next in a welterweight bout. In round 1, Grant lands a right hand and a left hook. Pedersoli marching down and tries a high kick and gets crushed on the counter. Mouthpiece goes flying and he is out
Daniel Teymur vs. Chris Fishgold is next in a featherweight bout. In round 1, Teymur dropping for a leglock. It fails. Fight is back to standing. Teymur on top and looking for damaging ground-and-pound. Fishgold has full mount. Transitions to the armbar but doesn’t have it locked in. Teymur escapes but is still backmounted. In round 2, Teymur was taken down again and he’s given up his back. Fishgold has the rear-naked choke for the win.
Veronica Macedo vs. Gillian Robertson is next in a women’s flyweight bout. In round 1, Macedo kicks off the cage as Robertson was too focused on going for an arm rather than keeping position. But Robertson grabs a leg and drives through to return Macedo to her back. Robertson with the back take and kicks off the cage to put Macedo on the canvas. Robertson trying to keep top ride, but Macedo able to spin through and end up on top. Macedo pulls away to return the fight to open space. Macedo throwing up a triangle as Robertson tries to float on top. Robertson pushes her to the cage to land a short shot. In round 2, Body kick from Macedo and Robertson catches it for an easy takedown. Macedo trying for a guillotine, but Robertson is on top in half guard. Robertson got her back and locked in the rear-naked choke for the win.
Damir Hadžović vs. Marco Polo Reyes is next in a lightweight bout.
Hadžović finished him by strikes from back mount in round 2.
Michel Prazeres vs. Ismail Naurdiev is next in a welterweight bout. In round 1, Naurdiev fights off the body lock, Prazeres in on the double and gets it, but Naurdiev right back up. Wild hooks from Naurdiev. Prazeres looking for a counter double leg, timed it well but Naurdiev stuffed it. Naurdiev with the sweep and puts Prazeres on his back. Prazeres has literally zero neck to choke and peels it off his face to turn into guard and push Naurdiev to the fence. In round 2, Prazeres jumps on a single leg to trip, but Naurdiev scrambles right up. Body kick to head kick from Naurdiev. Prazers tries a lazy hook and grabs the body lock when Naurdiev pushes off the cage. Prazeres tries the trip and ends up tossing Naurdiev on top of himself, but chases through it to get the takedown and end up in half guard. In round 3, Huge knee from Naurdiev as Prazeres rises has him stunned. Naurdiev tries to unload, but Prazeres dives on a takedown. Naurdiev stuffs it. Prazeres roll to his back and gives up half guard to keep the ref from stepping in. The judges gave the win to Naurdiev.
Rustam Khabilov vs. Carlos Diego Ferreira is next in a lightweight bout. In round 1, both men trading inside. Khabilov is determined to stop the pressure and just landed a good right hand. Ferreira doubles up on the jab and lands a right hand. Khabilov hits the counter double and slams him down as Ferreira gets up. Ferreira on his feet and pushing forward with right hands again. Khabilov with a takedown. Ferreira scrambles straight into a crucifix and starts pounding away. In round 2, Another 1-1-2 from Ferreira. KHabilov shoots and gets the slamming trip. Ferreira right back to his feet and pressing again. Another right hand from Ferreira and Khabilov is starting to look tired. Eats a long body punch and he’s getting more wild with his counter attempts. In round 3, Ferreira right back with the jab and a body punch and lots of pressure.A hand right from Ferreira and a couple jabs and a body kick. Both men trade hooks inside. Double jab to right hand from Ferreira again. Jab from Ferreira. Khabilov shoots and Ferreira stuffs it to land elbows. Ferreira fights him off and goes back to throwing and pushing forward. The judges gave the win to Carlos Diego Ferreira.
Opening the ESPN 2 prelims is Damir Ismagulov vs. Joel Alvarez in a lightweight bout. In round 1, a hard right hand from Ismagulov. Alvarez looking for short counter flurries. Another big winging right hand from Ismagulov. Alvarez getting cracked right over his left shoulder over and over. Big left hook from Ismagulov. Right, left, and another left. Alvarez walking in very tall and hoping to brawl in the pocket. In round 2, Big right hand from Ismagulov, and then right back to low kicks and probing for the 1-2. Alvarez with a couple short shots landed inside and a low kick. In round 3, Ismagulov throwing the overhand right again. Alvarez with a body kick and a right hand, but Ismagulov answers with a hard right and left hook. Alvarez with a push kick and Ismagulov answers with a body kick. The judges gave the win to Ismagulov.
