This weekend’s UFC 146 will no doubt bring a star-studded lineup to the table. One of the major stars featured on Saturday will be former UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, who will face Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in the co-main event. Having only fought twice since October of 2010, the AKA fighter will have much to prove in Las Vegas on May 26th. Coming off of a devastating 64 second loss to Junior dos Santos at the very first UFC on Fox card, Velasquez knows this a make-or-break fight in
In a video courtesy of Ironforgesiron.com, UFC Middleweight champion apparently forgets that he is wearing a microphone while training with Wanderlei Silva for his upcoming UFC 147 headliner with Vitor Belfort. The results, to say the least, are comical. Anderson Silva calls Belfort a coward, telling Wanderlei to never back up in their fight. Realizing that he is being recorded, the longtime champ laughs and says that they should have wrote “cutie” underneath the large photo of Belfort on the
The Strikeforce Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Cormier salaries for the fighters were released by the California State Athletic Commission on Monday, reports MMAWeekly.com.Topping the list were Josh Barnett, who lost to Daniel Cormier, and Gilbert Melendez who won over Josh Thomson by split-decision. Half of Daniel Cormier’s payday was a $50,000 win bonus. Melendez received no such bonus for his win by split-decision. These figures do not include any undisclosed bonuses, such as “fight of the night”,
Today Nick Diaz finally appeared before the NSAC to decide his fate stemming from a failed UFC 143 drug test for marijuana metabolites. After much back-and-forth between the Nevada general attorney’s office and the legal team of Diaz led by Ronald Goldman, the commission decided to take serious disciplinary action and suspend the controversial fighter for a full twelve months. On top of that, 30 percent of his fight purse was taken in addition to his fight bonus.
This may come as a shock to some, seeing as
Today Chael Sonnen appeared before the Nevada State Athletic Commission in a bid to gain a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) for his well-documented use of TRT. His request was indeed granted, and it appears that his UFC 148 Middleweight title bout with Anderson Silva will go down will much less controversy than their previous encounter. Of course Sonnen was suspended for six months following his UFC 117 loss after failing to inform the CSAC of his usage. This time, though, Sonnen is in the clear

Daniel Cormier broke his right hand when he knocked out Antonio Silva in September 2011. Last night he broke it again in his Strikeforce fight with Josh Barnett. In fact, he and Josh Barnett fought most of their five-round war in the cage with broken hands as Barnett broke his left hand early in the first round.
Barnett posted on Twitter this morning:
Here’s what happened in the first :30…still threw it though. Of course that might not have so wise LOL. twitpic.com/9nc4yk

(This tender moment is brought to you by the word: clownshoe.) As we mentioned earlier this week, Chael Sonnen is basically the living…
As everyone is clamoring over just what should be Daniel Cormier’s next move, it appears another hand injury may slow down the newly crowned Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix champion. He broke his hand in the first round of his five round battle with Josh Barnett for the title last night, but obviously continued and excelled through the pain. Cormier will have surgery on the hand, something he neglected to do when he broke the same hand knocking out Antonio Silva in the Grand Prix semifinals.
