Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Heavyweight Grand Prix Final” held the promotion’s highest ratings of 2012. Both fights on the main card drew in 463,000 Showtime viewers according to MMAjunkie.com
This represents a steady rise from this year’s earlier events: “Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine” (January 2012): which drew in 344,000 viewers and “Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey” (March 2012) which was taken in by 431,000.

The Strikeforce Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Cormier salaries for the fighters were released by the California State Athletic Commission on Monday, reports MMAWeekly.com.Topping the list were Josh Barnett, who lost to Daniel Cormier, and Gilbert Melendez who won over Josh Thomson by split-decision. Today Nick Diaz finally appeared before the NSAC to decide his fate stemming from a failed UFC 143 drug test for marijuana metabolites. After much back-and-forth between the Nevada general attorney’s office and the legal team of Diaz led by Ronald Goldman, the commission decided to take serious disciplinary action and suspend the controversial fighter for a full twelve months.
