Is the UFC putting on too many cards to sustain growth of MMA?

Lately the debate has come up over the UFC putting on too many events and spreading itself too thin, resulting in a number of lackluster cards. Of course, ultimately the UFC is a business, and on paper, the more events they put on, the more opportunity there is to make money. While this may be true in the short run, is that the best strategy to sustain the popularity of Mixed Martial Arts? UFC 150: Fighter Bonuses and Attendance, Cerrone wins twice

The attendance and post-fight bonuses have been announced for tonight’s UFC 150 in Denver, Colorado. Bonuses of $60,000 each, were awarded for Submission of the Night to Dennis Bermudez, Fight of the Night went to Donald Cerrone and Melvin Guillard and the Knockout of the Night was awarded to Donald Cerrone. UFC 150 took place tonight live from Denver, Colorado, and Lightweight champion Benson Henderson has retained his championship belt in a somewhat controversial split decision over former champ Frankie Edgar. The fight saw Henderson possess an advantage in significant strikes, outlanding Edgar 89 to 62. However, Edgar held a huge advantage in the area of control, with 3 minutes, 15 seconds to a mere 10 seconds by Henderson.
