UFC Live on Versus to feature Sakara vs Irvin on the main card

Following the withdrawal of Anthony Johnson and Sean Sherk from UFC Live: Vera vs Jones it has been announced that Alessio Sakara vs James Irvin will be moved to the main card of the evening on March 21st. Sakara (14-7) who has been out of action since last August will face James Irvin(14-5) who hasn’t fought since he was knocked out by Anderson Silva at UFN 14 in mid-2008.

Originally the two fighters were set to meet in a middleweight bout on the preliminary card but due to injuries sustained by Sean Sherk and Anthony Johnson forcing them to pull out, the bout will now take place on the main card along side Vera vs Jones, Dos Santos vs Gonzaga and Paul Buentello vs Cheick Kongo.

Sakara who has won his last two fights against Thiales Lietes and Joe Vedepo will face Irvin, who will be hoping to bounce back after his knock out loss to Silva at Fight Night 14. Sakara’s last three losses have come by way of knock out so I’m sure we should see ‘The Sandman’ Irvin trying to put Sakara to sleep.
