Laura Sanko Talks Social Media
Laura Sanko claims X has become a space filled with harmful content. In a candid post, Sanko explained her growing distance from the platform, saying, “X has become a place I don’t spend much time anymore. People literally making up stuff about things I never said. I see very little positive. Just every depravity occurring on earth at your fingertips. It’s overwhelming.”
The UFC commentator highlighted the overwhelming negative atmosphere on X, stressing the importance of curating online spaces to focus on positivity. “I think awareness is important. I think this platform is important. I just wish I could filter my timeline to be what I want. Ugh,” she continued.
In contrast to the negativity she’s encountered online, Sanko took a moment to appreciate a simple act of kindness from her neighbor, sharing, “My neighbor shoveled my driveway for me without even telling me. Just kindness. More of this please 🫶🏼.”
Sanko’s remarks come amid growing concerns about X’s impact on user well-being. Studies show that the platform has been linked to a decline in positive emotions and an increase in negative sentiments such as outrage and political polarization. The platform’s reputation has taken a significant hit in recent years since Elon Musk’s acquisition.
Despite the challenges posed by X, Laura Sanko’s call for kindness is a reminder of the simple gestures that can foster goodwill both online and in the real world. In addition to being a UFC commentator, Laura Sanko is herself a former fighter.
