UFC on FOX 13 Highlights: Dos Anjos, Overeem & Mitrione Pick Up Big Wins
There was a trio of highly entertaining main card bouts leading up to the spirited Junior dos Santos vs. Stipe Miocic headliner (watch highlights here) at last night’s (Sat., December 13, 2014) UFC on FOX 13 from U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
The co-main event featured surging No. 3-ranked Rafael dos Anjos welcome Nate Diaz back to the octagon in extremely rude fashion. “RDA” kept a steady torrent of lethal leg kicks to absolutely dominate the trash-talking Diaz, who proved to be far from earning the big payday he believes he deserves:
Two Dutch heavyweights threw down when Alistair Overeem served as Stefan Struve’s first test since early 2013. Unfortunately for “The Skyscraper,” former Strikeforce champion Overeem picked up his second win of the year with a slick takedown and a TKO stoppage via ground and pound:
Finally, rising heavyweight slugger Matt Mitrione destroyed Gabriel Gonzaga in quick and devastating fashion and extended his win streak to three with all three victories coming by first round knockout:
