UFC Fight Night 88 Prelims Results: McMann Dominates Eye

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Sunday, May 29, 2016) will come in the form of UFC Fight Night 88. Headlining the card are Thomas Almeida and Cody Garbrandt, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Jessica Eye vs. Sara McMann in a women’s bantamweight bout closes the preliminary card on Fox Sports 1. McMann returned to her old form in this fight with her excellent takedowns and grappling. This scored her a decision victory.

Jordan Rinaldi and Abel Trujillo met in a lightweight bout. A solid fight to say the least. In round one, Trujillo took him down and got guard. Rinaldi got back to his feet, and they went back to striking. In the second round, Trujillo took him down early into the round, but Rinaldi went for an armbar, but Trujillo got out of it. Trujillo ended up on top in half guard before standing up. Rinaldi took him down and got his back. Rinaldi smashed his face in, and Trujillo stayed in the fight. In round three, Trujillo landed a series of rights and then took him down and landed in guard. Trujillo picked up the decision win.

Jake Collier and Alberto Pereira Uda met in a middleweight bout. A tough back and forth fight for both men. In round one, Uda stunned him and took him down. He got his back but Collier stood up. Collier got him off and landed a spinning elbow. Collier was bleeding from his nose. In the second round, things went downhill for Uda. Collier came out and just blitzed him with a series of rights that ultimately dropped him with a body kick and finished him on the ground.

Shane Campbell vs. Erik Koch in a lightweight bout opened the FOX Sports 1 preliminary bouts. In the first round, both guys came and started throwing down. Campbell clinched and pressed him up against the fence. Kotch got a double leg takedown under a minute to go. In the second round, Kotch came out and took him down. He got his back and locked in the rear-naked choke for the win.

Bryan Caraway and Aljamain Sterling met in a bantamweight bout to finish off the UFC Fight Pass preliminary card. A fun fight to say the least. Sterling took control of the first round, but Caraway fought back in rounds one and two and dominated the fight. In round one, Sterling got the takedown midway through and got his back in transition. Sterling with a neck crank but then let it go.. Sterling started throwing bombs, and they were landing. Caraway stayed in this one as the bell sounded. In round two, Sterling came out and went for a takedown but was stuffed. Caraway started to land some combos and went for a takedown but it was stuffed. In round three, Caraway came out and pressured him. Caraway took him down halfway through the round and swarmed him. Caraway got his back and worked him over. Late in the round, Sterling stood up as Caraway stayed on him landing more shots. The judges gave Caraway the win by split decision.

Opening the UFC Fight Pass prelims was Chris DeLaRocha vs. Adam Milstead in a heavyweight bout. Talk about a rock em sock em kind of fight. These dues came out and just threw down, and it made for a very entertaining bloody fight. Both guys come out swinging, and they stun each other. Milstead dropped him and swarmed him, but DeLaRocha got back to his feet within a minute of the first round. In the second round, Milstead rocked him with a series combos. DeLaRocha stayed up. The referee then stopped the fight.
