UFC Fight Night 80 & TUF 22 Finale Medical Suspensions Released

The medical suspensions for both the UFC Fight Night 80 and TUF 22 Finale have been released.

Some of the more notable suspensions from the UFC Fight Night 80 event include Rose Namajunas having to be cleared by a doctor if results of an x-ray on her left hand is positive, which would keep her out of action until June. Paige VanZant is out of action until January 25th while Michael Chiesa is out until January 10th and Jim Miller is out until January 1st. It should be noted that Sage Northcutt was not suspended at all, so he can return to the Octagon very soon if he wanted too.

UFC Fight Night 80 took place at the inside The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino on Thursday, December 10th, 2015. The event was headlined by a women’s strawweight bout as Rose Namajunas meets Paige VanZant. The main card featured four bouts with Jim Miller fighting Michael Chiesa in the co-main event, Sage Northcutt fought Cody Pfister, and Elias Theodorou took on Thiago Santos.

Here are the entire medical suspensions:

  • Rose Namajunas: Must have left hand x-rayed and cleared by Dr. or no contest until 06/10/16.
  • Paige VanZant: Suspended until 01/25/16 and no contact until 01/10/16.
  • Michael Chiesa: Suspended until 01/10/16 and no contact until 01/01/16.
  • Jim Miller: Suspended until 01/01/16 and no contact until 12/25/15.
  • Cody Pfister: Suspended until 01/10/16 and no contact until 01/01/16.
  • Elias Theodorou: Must have right hand x-rayed and cleared by Dr. or no contest until 06/10/16; minimum suspension no contest until 01/25/16, no contact until 01/10/16.
  • John Howard: Suspended until 01/25/16 and no contact until 01/10/16.
  • Sergio Moraes: Must have left hand x-rayed and cleared by Dr. or no contest until 06/10/16; minimum suspension no contest until 01/10/16, no contact until 01/01/16.
  • Omari Akhmedov: Suspended until 01/10/16 and no contact until 01/01/16.
  • Kevin Casey: Must have Ophthalmologist clearance or no contest until 06/10/16.
  • Aljamain Sterling: Must have MRI by December 18, 2015.
  • Johnny Eduardo: Suspended until 01/25/16 and no contact until 01/10/16.
  • Andreas Stahl: Suspended until 01/25/16 and no contact until 01/10/16.
  • Emily Kagan: Must have Orthopedic clearance on left knee or no contest until 06/10/16; minimum suspension no contest until 01/10/16, no contact until 01/01/16.

For the TUF 22 Finale, Chad Mendes will be out until January 26th while Tony Ferguson is out until February 10th and Edgar Barboza being out until January 26th due to 2 scalp lacerations on forehead. Frankie Edgar was not suspended at all.

TUF 22 Finale took place on Friday, December 11th in Las Vegas at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan. The main card aired on FOX Sports 1 and the prelims aired on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. Frankie Edgar vs. Chad Mendes in a featherweight bout served as the main event. Ryan Hall vs. Artem Lobov in the “TUF 22” lightweight tournament final served as the co-main event.

  • Tony Ferguson: Must have CT scan of head or no contest until 06/11/16. Minimum suspension and no contest until 02/10/16 – no contact until 01/26/16 for lacerations.
  • Edson Barboza: Suspended until 01/26/16 and no contact until 01/11/16 for 2 scalp lacerations on forehead.
  • Evan Dunham: Suspended until 01/26/16 and no contact until 01/11/16 for laceration over right eyebrow.
  • Joe Lauzon: Suspended until 01/11/16 and no contact until 01/02/16.
  • Tatsuya Kawajiri: Suspended until 01/11/16 and no contact until 01/02/16.
  • Jason Knight: Suspended until 02/10/16 and no contact until 01/26/16 for laceration left cheek.
  • Konstantin Erokhin: Suspended until 01/11/16 and no contact until 01/02/16 for left thumb injury.
  • Ryan LaFlare: Must have right hand/thumb x-ray to rule out fracture, if results are positive needs Orthopedic Dr. clearance or no contest until 06/11/16. Minimum suspension and no contest until 01/11/16. No contact until 01/02/16.
  • Mike Pierce: Suspended until 01/26/16 and no contact until 01/11/16.
  • Joby Sanchez: Suspended until 01/26/16 and no contact until 01/11/16 for lacerations under right eye and over left eyebrow.
  • Chris Gruetzemacher: Must have left & right forearms cleared by Dr. or no contest until 06/11/16. Minimum suspension and no contest until 01/11/16 No contact until 01/02/16.
  • Abner Lloveras: Suspended until 02/10/16 and no contact until 01/26/16 for laceration over right upper eye lid.
