UFC Fight Night 79 Preliminary Results: Yang Finishes Collier

It was once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Saturday, November 28, 2015) came from Seoul, South Korea in the form of UFC Fight Night 79. Headlining the card were Benson Henderson and Jorge Masvidal, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Jake Collier and Dongi Yang finished off the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 79. Both fighters had their moments. Yang took him down right away with a double-leg takedown. Collier tried to go for a guillotine choke, but Yang got out and started landing some big strikes. Collier went for a kneebar, but Yang got out and started to beat up Collier. He finished him in the middle of the second round.

Tae Hyun Bang and Leo Kuntz met in a lightweight bout at UFC Fight Night 79. A very close fight that saw both men exchange and a lot of submission attempts. In the end, the judges gave the split decision victory to Bang.

Yui Chul Nam and Mike De La Torre met in a featherweight bout at UFC Fight Night 79. Another fight that went the distance and another close fight that was served with a split decision finish. The judges gave Torre the win.

Cortney Casey and Seo Hee Ham met in a women’s strawweight bout at UFC Fight Night 79. Another fun fight from this card as both girls kept it standing and exchanged. Ham had more in the gas tank, which helped her secure the final round. In the end, Ham was awarded the decision win.

Fredy Serrano and Yao Zhikui met in a flyweight bout at UFC Fight Night 78. This one did not last long as Serrano took him down and Zhikui landed on his right arm and dislocated his arm. The fight was stopped in the first round.

Marco Beltran and Ning Guangyou met in a bantamweight bout at UFC Fight Night 79. This fight did not produce a ton of action on the feet but had its moments. Neither fighter was dominant in this fight and thus forced a split decision, which went to Beltran.

Opening the prelims is Dong Hyun Kim and Dominique Steele in a welterweight bout at UFC Fight Night 79. A fun action packed fight for the first two rounds that ended in dramatic fashion. Steele landed a big right hand then slammed him to the ground and finished him with strikes in the third round.
