UFC Fight Night 73 Preliminary Results: Uriah Hall TKO’s UFC Rookie

Uriah Hall

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Saturday, August 8th, 2015) will come from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, in the form of UFC Fight Night 73. There’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Oluwale Bamgbose vs. Uriah Hall closed the preliminary card on FOX Sports 1. Hall took him right down, landed some big strikes from the top and finished the fight. Bamgbose made his UFC debut, so maybe his nerves got the best of him in this fight.

Chris Camozzi vs. Tom Watson was next on the UFC Fight Night 73 prelims. This was a fun, fast paced fight that saw a mixture of stand up and takedowns. They went the distances as Camozzi won the fight by unanimous decision.

Willie Gates vs. Dustin Ortiz was next in a flyweight bout. Ortiz showed off his nasty side as he just dominated Gates in this fight with his wrestling as well as his ground and pound. Ortiz used those skills to end the fight by TKO in the third round.

Sirwan Kakai vs. Frankie Saenz opened the FOX Sports 1 preliminary bouts. Neither fighter did much damage or showed he was the superior fighter compared to his opponent. The judges gave the split decision to Saenz.

Jonathan Wilson vs. Chris Dempsey in a light heavyweight bout finished off the UFC Fight Pass preliminary card. Wilson didn’t take long to get his hand raised in this fight as it only took him fifty seconds to knockout Dempsey in the first round.

Roman Salazar vs. Marlon Vera was next in a bantamweight bout. Salazar wanted the fight to the ground and got just that, but when he got to where he was going was outclassed by Vera. In the second round, Vera was takedown, but took advantage by locking in a sweet armbar for the win.

Opening the UFC Fight Pass prelims was Anthony Christodoulou vs. Scott Holtzman in a lightweight bout. This was one of the most one sided fights you’ll ever see in the UFC. Holtzman won the fight with a rear naked choke in the third round after just giving a back side kickin prior to that.
