Following an impressive first round stoppage of Carlos Diego Ferreira at April 4’s UFC fight Night 63 from Fairfax, Virginia, Dustin Poirier sought his second win back at lightweight when he met Yancy Medeiros on the main card of tonight’s (Sat., June 6, 2015) UFC Fight Night 68 from his home state of Louisiana at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

The bout began with Poirier snapping a jab as both fighters looked for their timing. He rocked Medeiros with a huge right hand all of the sudden, dropping him and following with another that dropped him again. Poirier got an easy takedown and took Medeiros’ back, looking for a choke.

He cinched up his body but somehow Medeiros got back to his feet. It did no good, however, as Poirier nailed him with a vicious body kick and swarmed with a flurry of uppercuts and hooks to force Referee John McCarthy to stop the fight.

Final Result: Dustin Poirier def. Yancy Medeiros via R1 TKO (strikes, 2:38)
