UFC Fight Night 62 Medical Suspensions: LaFlare Headlines List Of Full Terms
With nine total finishes in 12 fights, last Saturday night’s (March 21, 2015) UFC Fight Night 62 from Macaranazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, not surprisingly resulted in a rather lengthy list of medical suspensions.
Headlining the list of six fighters who received full six-month sits was main event participant Ryan LaFlare, who will be required to get a doctor’s clearance on his right hand.
Rising lightweight prospect Gilbert Burns also got the full six-month suspension for his comeback submission win over Alex Oliveira. Although he picked up an impressive victory, Burns ate several uppercuts from Oliveira, resulting in the full suspension pending an MRI clearance of his face.
Women’s bantamweight pioneer Shayna Baszler received six months on the sidelines for her brutal TKO loss to No-9-ranked Amanda Nunes, where it appeared that she significantly injured her knee from Nunes’ last low kick of the bout.
Kevin Souza could potentially be out for six months following his highlight reel “Performance of the Night” knockout of Katsunori Kikuno. The blossoming featherweight will require doctor’s clearance of his nose in order to return prior to that.
Lightweight Cain Carrizosa also received the full suspension pending clearance of his right knee.
Rounding out the list of fighters to receive full suspensions was flyweight Bentley Syler, who ended up on the wrong end of a thunderous uppercut KO from the debuting Fredy Serrano.

Bentley Syler: : Suspended for 180 days pending clearance of face (fractured orbital bone)
Leonardo Mafra: Suspended for 45 days, no contact for 30 days
Christos Giagos: Suspended for 14 days, no contact for seven days
Jorge Oliveira: Suspended for 30 days, no contact for 21 days
Cain Carrizosa: Suspended for 180 days pending clearance of left knee
Kevin Souza: Suspended for 180 days pending clearance of nose with x-ray exam
Katsunori Kikuno: Suspended for 45 days, no contact for 30 days
Leandro Silva: Suspended for 14 days, no contact for seven days
Drew Dober: Suspended for 30 days, no contact for 21 days
Francisco Trinaldo: Suspended for 30 days, no contact for 21 days
Akbarbh Arreola: Suspended for 30 days, no contact for 21 days
Godofredo Pepey: Suspended for 14 days, no contact for seven days
Andre Fili: Suspended for 14 days, no contact for seven days
Gilbert Burns: Suspended for 180 days pending clearance of face through MRI exam
