After he lost to middleweight champion Chris Weidman at UFC 175 in July, Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida was looking to make a statement against C.B. Dollaway in the main event of last night’s (Sat., December 20, 2014) UFC Fight Night 58 from Barueri, Brazil.

The former light heavyweight titleholder did just that, blasting “The Doberman” with a fist round body kick and a follow-up torrent of punches on a dazed Dollaway. The win came at just over one minute into the bout, and it understandably earned Machida one of the card’s $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonuses.

Joining Machida in that exclusive club was none other than former bantamweight champion Renan Barao,  who earned the other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus for his impressive third round submission of a tough but overmatched Mitch Gagnon.

It was deemed a night of amazing single performances by Dana White, so four “Performance of the Night” bonuses were handed out rather than the usual “Fight of the Night” award.

The third $50,000 “Performance of the Night” awards went to welterweight Erick Silva, who took out Mike Rhodes with a first round arm-triangle. The fourth and final bonus went to The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Brazil 3 finalist Vitor Miranda, who finished off Jake Collier with a late first round head kick on the Fight Pass preliminary card.
