UFC Fight Night 57 results from Austin, Texas….

UFC Fight Night 57 went down tonight (Sat. November 22nd, 2014) in Austin Texas, and was a decent enough evening of fights. The action packed main event between Frankie Edgar and Cub Swanson is not to be missed, but don’t forget the main card has one of the best looking prelims of the year backing it up.

Debuting heavyweights and Ruslan Magomedov pick up the feature FS1 prelim bout for the evening, in what will likely be a very quick affair. Copeland is large, he looks like he ate Roy Nelson. Magomedov unloads early but “Cuddly Bear” eats it well, another flurry and Copeland goes down again.

Magomedov just tagging Copeland here, but he refuses to quit, he answers well but the second round was all Magomedov too. The third was much of the same, UD for Magomedov

British striker Luke Barnatt takes on fellow huge middleweight Roger Narvaez, and it was a close first round. Barnatt’s range was negated by some good head movement by Narvaez, the crowd boos in the second as not much is happening. Narvaes rocks Barnatt with a head kick, and he is almost out on his feet! “Bigslow” hangs on, and they fight to the buzzer….Narvaez with a SD

Nick Hein and James Vick had unfinished business at lightweight, and Hein came out looking to finish. A huge left hook drops Vick on two occasions, but he does well to regain composure. A little slower was the second, and the third was quite close. James Vick wins a UD.

Uber-veteran Yves Edwards and Akbarh Arreola open the FOX Sports section of the prelims, and it was the Mexican Arreola putting in work early on, very nearly getting the finish after a big kick. It went to the ground and Edwards got caught in a tight armbar. Arreola wins by first round tap out.

TUF 20 competitors Kailin Curran and Paige VanZant in a women’s strawweight affair next, and this was a predictably fast paced bout. VanZant very nearly got the finish by strikes in one, and the pace slowed in the second and third, in what was primarily a clinch fest. A big slam from VanZant and some punches are enough to get the TKO in round three.

Opening the card is “Korean Superboy” Dooho Choi, as he takes on Juan Puig. WOW! What a debut by “The Korean Superboy”! He drops Puig with a huge right hand over the top of a jab. A few more punches and it’s over, welcome to featherweight Dooho Choi
