UFC Fight Night 56: Warlley Alves vs. Alan Jouban Highlights
With Ian McCall forced out of his previously scheduled bout with John Lineker due to a blood virus, welterweights Warlley Alves and Alan Jouban moved into the co-main event of tonight’s (Sat., November 8, 2014) UFC Fight Night 56 from the Ginásio Municipal Tancredo Neves in Uberlândia, Brazil.
They did not fail to disappoint, delivering a three round war that ended with a bit of controversy. Alves nearly finished Jouban in the bout’s opening moments, and he also got a takedown to control Jouban for much of the second round. But Jouban persevered to absolutely light up an obviously tired Alves in the bout’s second half. Most thought Jouban had won, but the Brazilian judges gave Alves the unanimous decision.
The bout didn’t win “Fight of the Night,” as that went to Thomas Almeida vs, Tim Gorman, but Alves vs. Jouban has the MMA world talking about its controversial ending and lack of support in the post-fight bonuses. Check out the highlights courtesy of UFC on FOX below and decide for yourself:
