UFC Fight Night 115 Preliminary Results: Darren Till Decisions Bojan Velickovic

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Saturday, September 2nd, 2017) will come from in the form of UFC Fight Night 115. Headlining the card are Stefan Struve and Alexander Volkov, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Darren Till vs. Bojan Velickovic closes the preliminary card on Fight Pass. In round 1, nice low kicks from Velickovic and Till grins and shakes his head at him. Bojan jabs and lands leg kicks. Till returns with his own leg kicks. Slow-paced bout so far. Till lands another elbow as Bojan makes his way up, bleeding on the side of his head. An easy takedown stuff from Till, using the steering wheel. Till lands hard and Velickovic is wobbled but still working. In round 2, Till catches a kick, puts Velcikovic down on the mat and he’s’ in Velickovic’s closed guard. Bojan hammerfists from the bottom, Till lets him and shakes his head. Big left hand from Till from the guard. Velickovic was able to get back to his feet. In round 3, Bojan staying busy with kicks. He feints the takedown. Till catches another kick and follows Bojan to the fence with an elbow. The judges gave Till the decision win.

Mairbek Taisumov vs. Felipe Silva is next. In round 1, Taisumov ducks under a Silva flurry and face-plants Silva near the fence with one counter right hand. That’s a wrap!

Michel Prazeres vs. Mads Burnell is next. In round 1, Prazeres lands two left hooks then ties up, but Burnell stuffs his shot and puts him against the fence. Prazeres trips Burnell down and passes the butterfly guard to half. Prazeres finally gets to mount but Burnell reclaims half guard to end the round. In round 2, Prazeres looking tired from that extended grappling round, but Burnell is also in much deeper water than he’s been before. Burnell with a couple kicks. Prazeres clinches him up and lands a couple hard knees. Prazeres winging shots. Getting a little open defensively and Burnell cracks him. Prazeres stays extremely heavy on top and lands a few short punches, but he’s mostly looking to pass. He gets the mount. In round 3, Prazeres took him down, got north-south position and locked in the choke for the win.

Rustam Khabilov vs. Desmond Green is next. In round 1, Khabilov drags Green down again but for just a moment. Green is able to disengage. Both men connect with single punches. Green lands a body kick with a min left. Khabilov head kick blocked. Green shoots but Khabilov fends him off. Lands a few snappy kicks to end the round. In round 2, Green shoots but Khabilov fends him off again. The Russian misses upward elbow, lands a cross. They trade kicks. Green picking away at Khabilov’s lead leg while the Russian lands single rights. Green hit a nice cross, stuffs shot, then a combo. Green having more success on the feet this rd and stuffing Khabilov’s wrestling advances. Khabilov finally gets deep on a single, but Green pops up as soon as his butt hits the mat. Khabilov head kick blocked. Another right hook connects for Green. Green again lands a couple leg kicks to end the round. In round 3, not much landing cleanly for either fighter. Khabilov follows a right into a shot but gets stuffed. He lands another right and eats a leg kick. Green right hook. Khabilov picked up the decision win.

Francimar Barroso vs. Aleksandar Rakic is next. In round 1, Rakic comes forward and lands a few good shots. He lands a nasty uppercut, Barroso answers w/ a left hook. Rakic body kick. Rakic putting pressure on Barroso but neither man throwing very much. Rakic circles himself onto cage, Barroso shoots, but it was stuffed. In round 2, Rakic lands a nasty overhand right then an inside leg kick. They trade snapping low kicks. Rakic pressuring Barroso, looking for an opening to land a fight-ending combo. Barroso catches a kick and almost dumps him. Rakic shows nice footwork as he pivots away from the fence after getting off-balanced as Barroso tried chasing him down. Rakic is the longer, faster, superior striker but is looking for that one big opening instead of scoring. Barroso reactive takedown. In round 3, Eye poke, ref says it was off a punch, and Rakic ups his offense as Barroso paws at his eye. Barroso protests that he was eye-poked but referee Marc Goddard tells him it was closed. Rakic follows up with a combo

Mike Santiago vs. Zabit Magomedsharipov is next. In round 1, Santiago tries a takedown, but Zabit nearly gets a throw of his own. Back standing Zabit misses on wheel kick. Zabit cracks Santiago’s head up with an uppercut, tries jumping spinning back kick, then a Showtime kick off the cage. Big knee by Zabit, Santiago lands a nice body kick. Santiago pressing forward behind power punches and clinches again. Santiago able to get a late takedown but Zabit on verge of reversing at the end of the round. In round 2, Santiago stays in Zabit’s face and land a couple good shots, lands a takedown. But Zabit steps out of a single and gets back. Zabit is threatening to take the back. Tough to see where Santiago can win this fight. After Santiago fends off one rear-naked choke attack, Zabit sinks his arm under and prompts the tap for the win.

Bojan Mihajlovic vs. Abdul-Kerim Edilov is next. In round 1, Edilov follows a right hook into a big clinch knee, steps back, then back in with a combo. He drops for a takedown and gets it. Edilov working short punches from guard. Mihajlovic is bleeding near his left eye. Edilov content to rain blows from guard.  Edilov landing at will to head and body. Mihajlovic pushes him off but ends up in turtle w Edilov pounding him. Bojan survives the round. In round 2, Edilov gets an easy single leg with four minutes left in the round. He gets right back up in guard. Edilov finally gets arm position to land 10-12 unanswered head shots and the referee waves it off.

Opening the UFC Fight Pass prelims is Thibault Gouti vs. Andrew Holbrook. In round 1, they trade body kicks. Holbrook is staying busy while Gouti looks to set up big single shots. A head kick drops Holbrook. Gouti swarms him with strikes and that’s a wrap.
