UFC Bad Blood: Jon Jones

With the highly anticipated UFC 182 pay-per-view (PPV) main event between light heavyweight Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier set to go down just eight days from today (Sat., January 3, 2014) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the tension for the bad blood-fueled grudge match will reach a fever pitch in the coming days.

It’s hardly a secret that Jones and Cormier dislike one another, but we’ve rarely seen two fighters take their discord to the level they have in recent months, starting with their infamous UFC 178 Media Day brawl that started this whole mess.

It’s also no surprise that Jones doesn’t think Cormier will be able to handle his skillset. In a UFC Bad Blood preview from today, Jones cited Cormier’s recent competition as one of the reasons:

“Your last fight was against Dan Henderson. You beat a guy that’s 50.:

Jones is obviously done beating around the bush, and his trash talk has taken on an all-new look heading into this bout, which many believe will be his toughest test inside the Octagon.

That may be a better role for Jones, who quickly shed his God-fearing, positive affirmation spewing “good boy” persona once he gained a bit of fortune and fame, leading many to believe that he was a less-than-genuine individual despite his nearly flawless fighting ability.
