UFC 192 Extended Preview: Cormier vs. Gustafsson

maxresdefault 4

UFC 192 is set to go down in just a few weeks on October 2, 2015 from Houston, Texas live on pay-per-view. The UFC has put together quite a stacked card, and in the main event, newly crowned light heavyweight champion Daniel “DC” Cormier will put his title on the line against top contender Alexander Gustafsson.

After former long-time champion Jon Jones was suspended and stripped of his title after being arrested in April, Cormier stepped in to take on then No. 1-contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson at May’s UFC 187, scoring a submission victory to claim the vacant 205-pound title.

Prior to that, Cormier actually dropped a one-sided decision loss to Jones last January in one of the most hyped up fights in history. “The Mauler” has also taken on Jones, but he took “Bones” to the limit in a five-round war in 2013 which makes this bout very interesting.

Gustafsson is actually coming off of a brutal knockout loss to Johnson last February, and many would say he doesn’t deserve a title shot, but the bout remains intriguing stylistically nonetheless.

The former Olympian in “DC” obviously holds the wrestling advantage, but Gustafsson has very polished striking, and will hold a huge reach advantage of Cormier.
