UFC 187 Medical Suspensions: Main Card Stars Get Long Sits

UFC 187 provided a high quality night of action-packed bouts, serving up a doubleheader of title fights on the PPV (pay-per-view) main card. Finishes for Chris Weidman and Daniel Cormier saw the middleweight champion continue his reign, and a new boss crowned at 205 pounds. All in all, UFC 187 rocked our worlds, but it didn’t come without a few bumps for the main protagonists in Sin City.

Daniel Cormier requires clearance pending an MRI scan, or he’ll be shelved until November 1st. Let’s hope that huge right hand from Anthony Johnson that dropped the AKA (American Kickboxing Academy) star in round one didn’t do more damage than it seemed to. Vitor Belfort must have his left shoulder cleared or he’ll be out for six months, and Donald Cerrone‘s handy work means John Makdessi’s broken jaw could see ‘The Bull’ also out for 180 days.

Heavyweight sluggers Andrei Arlovski and Travis Browne put it all on the line during their Fight Of The Night winning slobber knocker, and it seems they are paying the price in the aftermath. ‘The Pitbull’ must pass MRI for his left shoulder, and ‘Hapa’ needs to have his broken nose cleared, with both facing a possible six month sit. Nina Ansaroff, who withdrew from her fight with Rose Namajunas, needs clearance or it’s 180 days for her too. Chris Weidman, Anthony Johnson and the rest of the card get away pretty much without incident.
