UFC 184 Medical Suspensions: Raquel Pennington Among Six With 180-Day Sits
Last Saturday’s (February 28, 2015) UFC 184 co-main event may not have featured the action-packed finish that fans had grown accustomed to from Holly Holm in her UFC debut, but her opponent Raquel Pennington may beg to differ.
The UFC 184 medical suspensions were obtained by MMA Junkie from the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) earlier today (Mon., March 2, 2015), and The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) veteran Pennington received a full 180-day medical suspension for her three-round split decision loss to Holm, who is undefeated and currently on a short list of contenders for dominant champion Ronda Rousey’s belt.
Pennington’s suspension is contingent on her receiving X-rays on both of her hands, during her match-up with ‘The Preacher’s Daughter.’
The incredibly short-lived main event between Rousey and No. 1 contender Cat Zingano failed to produce similar suspensions, however, as both fighters were dealt the mandatory seven-day sits for the fight, which Rousey won in 14 seconds with a devastating straight armlock.
Middleweight Roan Carneiro, welterweights Tim Means and Dhiego Lima, bantamweight Roman Salazar, and heavyweight Ruan Potts were the other combatants to get full 180-day sits.
