This Saturday night (January 31, 2015) decorated former middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva will fight his long-awaited comeback bout when he climbs into the cage to face Nick Diaz in the UFC 183 headliner from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It will be “The Spider’s” first bout in over 13 months since he suffered a badly broken leg in his rematch with Chris Weidman at December 2013’s UFC 168. There’s obviously been a huge following for Silva’s recovery, and there are even more question marks about the 39-year-old’s ability to contend with the currently evolving and dangerous middleweight division.

Yet he’ll get a title shot if he can get past a usual welterweight in Diaz, who has himself been out of the Octagon since his one-sided UFC 158 loss to Georges St. Pierre nearly two years ago.

The fight promises to be an emotional return for all-time great “Spider.” The UFC recently caught up with the legend to hear his thoughts on losing the belt to Weidman, his place in the growing sport of MMA, his injury, the threat of Diaz, his mindset while recovering and training, and his view of the bout at UFC 183 will be remembered.
