With a one-sided decision win over archenemy Daniel Cormier in the main event of last night’s (Sat., January 3, 2015) UFC 182 from Las Vegas, light heavyweight champion Jon Jones picked up his record-setting eighth straight title defense with a dominant, grinding decision win over Daniel Cormier where the champion beat “DC” at this own game with a grueling display of clinch work.

For the pivotal win, Jones earned $50,000 for his half of “Fight of the Night,” sharing the extra money with Cormier.

Lightweight Paul Felder extended his undefeated record to 10-0 with a shocking spinning backfist knockout of Team Alpha Male veteran Danny Castillo, earning ,000 for the first “Performance of the Night” bonus in the process.

Heavyweight Shawn Jordan earned the other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus for his first round knockout of newcomer Jared Cannonier.

UFC 182 live gate & attendance

The MGM Grand Garden Arena played host to the evening’s festivities, and is reported to have drawn 11, 575 spectators for a live gate of $3.7 million. Not too shabby at all.
