UFC 181 Bonuses: Anthony Pettis, Josh Samman Earn $50,000

Tonight’s (Sat., December 6, 2014) UFC 181 delivered an amazing night of fights from Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, and four fighters walked away with hard-fought $50,000 bonuses.

The first “Performance of the Night” went to none other than lightweight Anthony Pettis, who survived the pressure of Gilbert Melendez to earn $50,000 for his impressive second round guillotine submission of “El Nino.”

The second $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus went to Josh Samman, who persevered through massive hardship to finish The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 19 winner Eddie Gordon with an emphatic headkick on the preliminary card.

“Fight of the Night” went to bantamweights Sergio Pettis and Matt Hobar for their spirited battle that saw Hobar rock the younger Pettis with a big left hand early on. But the younger Pettis brother fought back with his precise striking to score the decision.

UFC 181 drew an announced attendance of 9,617 for a reported live gate of $2.488 million.
