UFC 179 highlights of Teixeira vs Davis, Maldonado vs Stringer…..
Phil Davis and Glover Teixeira collided in the co-main event of UFC 179 from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and the result was another decision win for “Mr Wonderful””. The wrestler did just that, and made the fight a rather dull 15 minutes of pressure and takedown attempts against the cage. For his part, Teixeira should really have known this was coming, and looked seriously unprepared for this type of fight.
Two losses on the bounce leave the Brazilian slugger in limbo at light-heavyweight, and Davis has righted his ship with a win over the #4. Over to Fabio Maldonado vs Hans Stringer, and this one started similarly to Teixeira vs Davis. Stringer got an early takedown and looked to be dominating the action through round one.
Come round two though, the tide had really turned; Stringer gassed spectacularly, and was the subject of a one-sided stanza on the ground. As he appeared to just completely give up and gas, “The Iron Hillbilly” heaped on the pressure to score the TKO win.
