Just over three weeks removed from the tragic Umpqua Community College shootings in Oregon, amateur MMA fighter and Army veteran Chris Mintz remains hospitalized. LowKickMMA reported a touching story on Mintz, who selflessly rushed a gunman on that October morning to protect the UCC students, and had received at that time $500,000 in donations. Mintz was reportedly shot five times during the attack, eye witnesses say he refused to back down from the armed assailant.

Mintz, formerly based at Fort Lewis in Washington during his military service, had also wrestled at high school level, and his story has reached millions. He was released on October 8. from the Roseburg hospital where he received treatment for his injuries, and a look at his ‘Go Fund Me’ page set up by a family member is simply staggering.
