Tyson Pedro definitely impressed in his submission win over Saparbek Safarov.

The opening main card bout at UFC 221 was a light heavyweight clash between Pedro and Safarov. Perth Arena played host to the event in Perth, Australia. This was a chance for both men to get back in the win column.

Pedro threw out a leg kick, but it was caught and he was taken down. He got back up quickly and broke free. Safarov was cracked with a right hand, but fired back with some strikes. Pedro got into a rhythm and showed his technical edge.

Pedro was able to land some shots on the chin, so Safarov went for a takedown. He got it and appeared to hit his opponent in the back of the head. Time wasn’t called. Pedro locked in a kimura standing and forced his opponent to the mat to finish it off.
