Tyron Woodley Cleans Robbie Lawler’s Clock To Win UFC Title
At UFC 201, Robbie Lawler (27-11) made his third Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight title defense at Phillips Arena in Atlanta. His challenger was Tyron Woodley (16-3), who had won two straight bouts heading into his first crack at UFC gold.
“The Chosen One” lived up to his nickname and left Atlanta with a UFC title.
Woodley opened up throwing strikes to get in a clinch position. Referee Dan Miragliotta broke the position up very quickly. A huge right hand clipped Lawler clean and some follow up punches put “Ruthless” out.
Final Result: Tyron Woodley def. Robbie Lawler via KO (Punches) – R1, 2:12
