TUF Brazil 3 Recap: Miocic Smashes Maldonado In Under One Minute

History has been made as the UFC have held two events in just 24 hours and what great cards they turned out to be.

UFN 41 took place earlier today in Berlin and you can catch the recap of that here.

The first set of fights in the day turned out to be action packed and The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 Finale had some way to go to top what we had seen already, however, it followed up with another exciting card.

The TUF final went down inside the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The headliner featured a heavyweight clash as undefeated former boxer Fabio Maldonado stepped up a division to take on Stipe Miocic and it didn’t last long.

Maldonado came out firing with a quick combo that just missed his opponent. But a left hand from the Ohio native backed up the Brazilian slugger before a huge right straight sent him staggering to the canvas. A few follow up shots from Miocic sealed the deal and the job was done. Great performance from the 31-year old.

In the co-main event, Antonio Carlos Junior and Vitor Miranda went head-to-head in the TUF Brazil 3 heavyweight finale. Team Silva’s “Cara De Sapato” proved to be too much for Miranda and was able to control him throughout. Carlos Junior uses his speed to control the paste striking while smothering his opponent with his grappling, doing more than enough to take a unanimous decision win.

The first TUF final was a completely one-sided show as Warlley Alves dominated his Team Sonnen teammate Marcio Alexandre before securing a finish early in the third round. After dropping his opponent early, Alves battered Alexandre for the first two rounds, using his superior grappling to chuck him around the cage. The third round didn’t last long as Alves landed a hard right hand before locking in a guillotine to get the finish.

In other action, former middleweight title challenger Demian Maia managed to avoid going on a three-fight losing skid by taking a unanimous decision over UFC newcomer Alexander Yakovlev. The Russian was no match for Maia who managed to drop his opponent early with an over hand right before controlling him with his grappling for the rest of the fight.

To kick off the main card, featherweight brawlers Robbie Peralta and Rony Jason put on a highly-entertaining, back-and-forth war. The bout was fairly even, and could have gone either way, but Peralta was the busier of the two and took a split-decision win.
