TUF Brazil veterans Viana vs. Teixeira, added to UFC 147 preliminary card

Featherweight Hugo “Wolverine” Viana (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will take on John “Macapa” Teixeira (13-0-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) on next week’s UFC 147 preliminary card on FX. This will be the first eliminated cast member fight between two fighters from The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil; reports MMAJunkie.com.

UFC 147 is set for June 23 at Estadio Jornalista Felipe Drumond (also known as “Mineirinho”) in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin will fight a rematch against Wanderlei Silva in the pay-per-view headliner in a five-round 190-pound-catchweight fight.

Viana is an undefeated pro fighter who was Vitor Belfort‘s second of eight picks on the show. All five of his wins have come by way of decision. On “TUF: Brazil”, Viana knocked out Alexandre Ramos in an elimination-round bout and earned a decision win over Marcos Vinicius Borges Pancini in the quarterfinals. However, Team Silva’s Number One pick, Rony “Jason” Mariano Bezerra defeated him by unanimous decision in the semifinals.

Teixeira, likewise has an unblemished record, winning nine of his 13 bouts by means of submission. He was Wanderi Silva’s third pick following an elimination-round submission victory over Giovanni da Silva Santos Jr. Rodrigo Damm defeated him via split-decision in the quarterfinals.

The remaining bouts at UFC 147 will go to the middleweight and featherweight finalists.
