Tonight’s (Fri., December 12, 2014) The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20 Finale from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas delivered a fitting introduction for the UFC women’s strawweight division.

Top seed and former Invicta FC strawweight champ Carla Esparza justifiably earned the first $50,000 “Performance of the Night” for his title clinching third round submission of fan favorite Rose Namajunas.

Esparza made his history as the first-ever UFC women’s strawweight champion.

The other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” went to Yancy Medeiros for his slick submission of Joe Proctor that was precluded by a vicious spinning kick to the body.

“Fight of the Night” went to the initial main card bout between Jessica Penne vs. Randa Markos. The two losing semifinalists on the show threw down in a hard-fought affair that saw Penne edge Markos by split decision.

Namajunas may not have earned her ultimate goal of being champion, but she did take home an extra $50,000 nonetheless in the form of two $35,000 bonuses from the show. Her fight with Joanne Calderwood was named “Fight of the Season,” while her kimura submission in the same fight was named “Performance of the Season.”
